05 May 2023

A new flight between Moscow and Baku has been launched since Friday from Zhukovsky International Airport, CEO of Red Wings Yevgeny Solodilin told TASS on Friday.

"The first flight departed 85 percent loaded, which is a very good indicator for a new flight," Solodilin said, noting that the new flights will operate twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays from Zhukovsky and on Mondays and Fridays back.

"Duration of the flight will be 3 hours and 30 minutes and the route will be served by modern comfortable SSJ100 planes with a capacity of 100 seats," explained the CEO of the carrier. He also expressed confidence that the new route from Zhukovsky will promote tourism and business development between the two countries.

For the airport, located 25 kilometers from the capital, the new route is the 17th in the segment of international transportation. As for the air traffic between Moscow and Baku, it is also served by Aeroflot, UTair and Azerbaijan Airlines.

Red Wings is one of the ten largest Russian airlines and specializes in regular and charter passenger flights. Its base airports are Domodedovo, Zhukovsky, Koltsovo, Balandino (Chelyabinsk) and Makhachkala airport.
