24 October 2022

The 18th General Assembly of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA), which opens in Tehran on Monday, will discuss changes in the information space and strengthening media cooperation in the post-pandemic era.

The event is supported by Iran's IRNA news agency and will bring together the heads of the 20 largest news agencies from more than 15 countries. The TASS delegation is headed by Sergei Mikhailov, the agency's general director.

The opening ceremony of the OANA photo exhibition "A World without Coronavirus" will be held on the margins of the forum. At the closing session, TASS is scheduled to receive the 2018-2019 Outstanding Achievement Award. The agency received this award for its TASS Digital Asset Management System project.

The Organization of News Agencies in Asia and the Pacific was founded on the initiative of UNESCO in 1961. Its purpose is to actively promote alternative views of global events and stand up for the idea of a multipolar world. The OANA brings together more than 40 news agencies from 35 countries, being the world's largest media organization: the OANA member states account for two-thirds of the total world information flow.
