One of the Islamic State (IS, banned in the Russian Federation) militants eliminated in Kabul was a high-ranking IS officer who was planning terrorist attacks against diplomatic missions in 2022 in the Afghan capital, Zabihullah Mujahid, an official spokesman for the Taliban (banned in the Russian Federation), said in a statement.
"Among those killed is a key member of the IS-Khorasan group (an offshoot of the Russian-banned terrorist organization Islamic State, IS) Qari Fateh <...> he is currently the head of intelligence and operations who led recent attacks in Kabul, including against diplomatic missions and mosques," the Taliban spokesman said in a statement posted on Twitter Tuesday.
Earlier it was reported that Afghan security forces eliminated two militants of the Islamic State terrorist group in the capital, another was captured. The raid was carried out in the Khair Khan area in northwest Kabul. Machine guns, explosives and large quantities of ammunition were seized from the militants.
In early September 2022, a terrorist detonated an explosive device near the entrance to the consular office of the Russian embassy in Kabul, killing two members of the diplomatic mission.
In December 2022, the Pakistani embassy in Kabul was attacked. Terrorists attempted to assassinate Ubayed Nizamani, the head of the embassy, then fled the site. The embassy's security guard was shot three times.
