Pakistan is witnessing a nationwide protest rally known as Holy Quran Day in response to the public burning of the Quran near a mosque in the Swedish capital on June 28.
Geo TV reported on Friday that demonstrations are taking place across the country, with various segments of society, including representatives of other religions, participating. In Islamabad, rallies have been organized in sectors F-6 Markaz and F-6/3, where the Swedish embassy in Pakistan is located.
The Pakistani authorities are committed to making diplomatic efforts at all levels to prevent similar provocations in the future. On July 11, Islamabad plans to raise the issue "during an urgent UN Security Council debate in Geneva on behalf of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)."
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has urged all political parties to participate in the protest, emphasizing that the entire Muslim community is deeply concerned about the incident in Sweden. He stated, "To express our feelings and emotions over the desecration of the holy Quran by the hands of an ill-fated man, today we all, all over the country, are protesting under the slogan of 'Holy Quran Day.'" The main activities are scheduled to take place after Friday prayers, where Pakistani Muslims will raise flags in support of the holy Quran and peacefully express their protest.
