Pakistan Notifies UN Security Council of Its Right to Respond to Indian Airstrikes

07 May

Pakistan has formally informed the United Nations Security Council of its right to respond to recent Indian airstrikes, according to a report by Reuters.

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry earlier stated that the Islamic Republic reserves the right to invoke Article 51 of the UN Charter, which allows for self-defense in response to acts of aggression. The ministry emphasized that Pakistan may respond "at any time and place of its choosing."

UN Secretary-General António Guterres has called on both India and Pakistan to exercise maximum restraint.
