Pakistani Prime Minister to Visit Russia in Q1 of 2026

10 November

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is preparing to visit Russia during the first quarter of 2026, according to the Islamic Republic's new ambassador to Moscow, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi.

“We are working on the Prime Minister's visit to the Russian Federation, scheduled for the first quarter of 2026,” the ambassador stated during a meeting with Federation Council Deputy Speaker Konstantin Kosachev.

The diplomat also spoke warmly about the growing cooperation between the two countries, sharing a personal connection to Russia. “My relationship with Russia began long ago,” Tirmizi remarked. “When I was born, I already had strong ties to Russia because my father trained as a pilot in the Soviet Union. My first bicycle, first television, first air conditioner — many of these came from the Soviet Union, along with numerous paintings and books. I'm an avid reader of Russian literature and have read all the major works of Fyodor Dostoevsky, Leo Tolstoy, and Mikhail Sholokhov. It's a great honor for me to return to Russia and participate in these processes.”

The Pakistani diplomat added that having already spent two weeks in Russia with visits to Samara and Kaluga, he will be departing for Kazan tomorrow.
