Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, speaking on Geo TV on Monday evening, affirmed Iran's right to retaliate against Israel following an attack by the Israeli army on the Iranian consulate in Syria.
According to the channel, the defense minister "unequivocally stated that Iran has the right to retaliate as Israel targeted the former consulate building of Iran in Syria, flagrantly violating international law."
Expressing concern over the escalating tensions in the Middle East, Asif highlighted the potential impact on other nations, including Pakistan. He underscored that in such a scenario, "the flames of war could engulf states that support Israel."
"We do not desire an escalation in tensions, but the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people must be halted," Asif emphasized.
On the evening of April 13, Iran launched drones and missiles towards Israel, citing various grievances, including an attack attributed to Israel on the consular section of Iran's embassy in Damascus. Iranian state media claimed the targets were military installations. The Israel Defense Forces stated they intercepted 99% of approximately 350 Iranian projectiles aimed at the Jewish state, causing minor damage to the Nevatim air base.
