Palestinian Foreign Ministry: Israel Aims to Turn Gaza into a Mass Grave

16 September

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry expressed deep concern over Israel’s launch of a military operation in Gaza City, stating that it reflects a willingness to endanger the lives of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians.

“The Foreign Ministry is seriously worried about the start of Israel’s ground operation in Gaza. This move is clearly aimed at turning the city into a mass grave and puts the lives of hundreds of thousands of civilians at risk,” the Palestinian Foreign Ministry said in a statement posted on X.

The ministry also warned that nearly one million Palestinians could be forced to flee their homes as a result of Israel’s offensive. It called on the international community to intervene immediately in the situation.

Earlier reports confirmed that Israel began a planned ground offensive on Gaza City with the objective of gaining full control. According to the Axios portal, the administration of US President Donald Trump “does not intend to prevent Israel and will allow it to make its own decisions regarding the conflict.” Sources cited by Axios noted that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Washington “supports the ground operation but expects it to be swift and conclude as soon as possible.”

On September 8, Netanyahu announced that the Israeli army would soon launch a large-scale offensive on Gaza City, urging residents to evacuate immediately. The offensive aims at decisively defeating Hamas fighters in the Palestinian enclave. The military operation was reportedly approved by Netanyahu at the end of August.
