Palestinian MFA holds Israel responsible for consequences of Jenin operation

The Palestinian foreign ministry on Monday held the Israeli authorities responsible for the consequences of a military operation that the Israeli army is conducting in the West Bank city of Jenin. The Palestinian foreign ministry said in a special statement.

"The foreign ministry condemns the aggression against the Palestinians in and around Jenin and holds the Israeli government fully and directly responsible for the crimes committed against the Palestinian people and their consequences," the document said. The ministry stressed that the aggression in Jenin was "part of Israel's official policy of using force against a defenseless people instead of a political solution to the [Palestinian-Israeli] conflict."

The Palestinian foreign ministry called on the international community to take measures to immediately stop the escalation in Jenin and on the International Criminal Court to "end its silence and begin bringing Israeli war criminals to justice."

WAFA reported earlier that Israeli forces launched rocket attacks on the Palestinian refugee camp in and around Jenin on Sunday night. Shortly thereafter, the Israeli military entered Jenin and surrounded the camp, de-energizing it and blocking roads leading to it. Ambulances for victims are not allowed into the camp. According to the latest reports, five Palestinians were killed and at least 30 were wounded as a result of the special operation launched by the Israeli forces.
