Parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan to be held in 2023

Speaker of the Majilis (lower house of parliament) of Kazakhstan Yerlan Koshanov said that elections to the legislative body of the republic are scheduled for the first half of 2023.


"Parliamentary elections will be held in the first half of next year. The president [of Kazakhstan] will announce it," Koshanov said when asked about the date of the election.


In the January 10, 2021, Majilis election, the ruling Nur Otan party (later renamed Amanat) received 71.09% of the vote, the People's Party of Kazakhstan received 9.10% and Aq Jol (Bright Path) received 10.95%. Two other parties participating in the elections won less than 7% of the votes and did not enter the parliament. Auyl (Village) received 5.29% of the votes and Adal received 3.57%. The turnout at the elections was 63.25%.
