Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed a joint statement in Yerevan expressing their readiness to support the regional “3+3” cooperation framework, the Armenian government press service reported.
The statement highlighted their endorsement of advancing regional cooperation mechanisms, including the “3+3” advisory platform, which brings together three South Caucasus countries—Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia—with three neighboring powers—Iran, Russia, and Turkey.
The concept of this six-party format was initially proposed in late 2020 by Azerbaijan’s Ilham Aliyev and Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Russia and Iran welcomed the initiative, and Armenia later joined as a participant. However, Georgia has so far declined to take part.
