Russian Presidential Aide and Chairman of the Russian Maritime Board, Nikolai Patrushev, held talks in Jakarta with the Commander of the Indonesian National Navy, Admiral Muhammad Ali.

The Russian delegation, led by Patrushev, was greeted with an honor guard and a military band that performed the national anthem of the Russian Federation.

"The Indonesian Navy actively cooperates with the Russian Navy. We remember the assistance provided by the Soviet Union and highly value this contribution. I very much hope that we will continue to develop and expand our cooperation," stated Muhammad Ali. He added that he welcomes the practice of joint naval exercises between Russia and Indonesia, expressing hope that "these drills will be held on a regular basis with an expanded number of participants."

For his part, Patrushev emphasized that maritime cooperation with Indonesia holds strategic importance for Russia.

"Cooperation in the maritime sphere is of particular significance for Russia and Indonesia, as reflected in the Declaration on Strategic Partnership adopted by Presidents Vladimir Putin and Prabowo Subianto following their talks in June of this year," the Russian presidential aide underscored.

During the visit, representatives from the two nations discussed issues of naval cooperation, with a focus on organizing bilateral exercises and multinational maneuvers, as well as conducting joint educational activities. The talks also covered the exchange of expertise in countering terrorist activities at sea.
