01 October

The active phase of the peacekeeping exercises “Indestructible Brotherhood-2024” has commenced at the Bereg training ground in Kazakhstan’s Almaty region, reports a TASS correspondent. From October 1 to 5, the Collective Peacekeeping Forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will work on the preparation and execution of a peacekeeping operation.

The command and staff exercises involve military contingents from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan.

“The global situation remains unstable, and we must be ready to face various challenges and threats, which are relevant not only to our countries but also to the international community,” stressed Sultan Kamaletdinov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces and First Deputy Defense Minister of Kazakhstan, during the opening ceremony of the active phase. Hasan Kaloyev, First Deputy Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, highlighted that the unique aspect of these exercises is the inclusion of units from the internal affairs bodies, police, internal troops, national guard forces, security agencies, and bodies responsible for disaster prevention and relief alongside military formations of the organization.

During the exercises, the peacekeeping operation will focus on post-conflict resolution in a crisis zone and providing humanitarian assistance. More than 2,000 military personnel, 500 armored and automotive vehicles, Mi-17 and Mi-35 helicopters, Il-76 and C-295 aircraft, and unmanned aerial systems are participating in the drills.
