Kazakhstan is a close partner of Russia, and Moscow intends to keep working with Astana across all possible fields, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a recent briefing.
“Kazakhstan is our very close partner, and our trade and economic cooperation will continue,” Peskov emphasized. “Of course, we will also keep interacting with our friends in Kazakhstan in all possible areas and participate in all competitive processes,” he assured, responding to a question about the Kremlin’s reaction to Kazakhstan’s purchase of 300 locomotives from the US, whereas the country had previously sourced them from Russia’s Transmashholding.
The American company Wabtec will supply Kazakhstan with 300 locomotives worth $4.2 billion.
