Peskov: Putin and Erdogan noted the need to push the terrorists out of Idlib completely

Russian president Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed the need to push out the remaining terrorists from the Syrian province of Idlib at talks in Sochi, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Thursday.


"The need to implement them (earlier agreements) in terms of pushing out of Idlib the terrorist elements that are still present there, who may pose a threat and carry out aggressive offensives against the Syrian army, was stressed," the Kremlin spokesman said.

 



He did not "go into specifics" on the Syrian issue, which the leaders touched on during the talks. "I do not possess this information completely," Peskov explained. - "But the topic was indeed discussed. The commitment to previously reached agreements was confirmed."


Talks between Russian and Turkish presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan were held in Sochi on Wednesday. The heads of state discussed topical issues of bilateral relations, as well as the situation in regions of mutual interest to the two countries: Syria, Libya, Afghanistan and Nagorno-Karabakh.
