The date of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's visit to Russia has not yet been set, but preparations are in progress, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday.
"Preparations have started, the date has not been set," the Kremlin spokesman said.
The leaders of Russia and Algeria held a telephone conversation on Tuesday during which the Algerian side said it had reached an agreement on Tebboune's visit to Russia in May.
This will be the first visit to Russia by the current Algerian leader, who has been in office since 2019.
As the Kremlin press service reported following the conversation between the leaders, the parties noted with satisfaction the progressive development of Russian-Algerian cooperation, which is based on long-standing traditions of friendship and mutual respect. The presidents agreed to intensify contacts at various levels and prepare important bilateral documents as well as reaffirmed their readiness to further joint work on global energy markets, including in the OPEC+ format and within the framework of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum.
