The process of implementing the agreements on Nagorno-Karabakh between Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan is going well, Russian President Vladimir Putin is in constant contact with both Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and acting Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"In general, the work in this direction is going well. We know that the trilateral agreements were concluded with President Putin's energetic participation, and they are being implemented with President Putin's energetic participation. He is in constant contact with acting Prime Minister Pashinyan and President Aliyev. We are now discussing the implementation of the agreements reached," Peskov said.

Asked about Russia's attitude toward France's intention to engage in the Karabakh settlement, Peskov said that if the mediators' efforts bring peace, this can only be welcomed.

"If mediation efforts bring peace, stability, predictability and help in the implementation of existing agreements, they can only be welcomed," Peskov said in response to a question about Russia's attitude toward the fact that France allegedly expresses intentions to get into the Russia-Armenia-Azerbaijan negotiations format, including to act as mediators.

France is co-chairing the OSCE Minsk Group on Karabakh along with Russia and the US.

At the end of September 2020, hostilities resumed in Nagorno-Karabakh, a continuation of the years-long conflict, resulting in civilian casualties. The parties made several attempts to conclude a ceasefire, but a trilateral agreement reached on the night of November 10 proved successful. With mediation by Moscow, Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed to a complete cease-fire and to exchange prisoners and bodies of the dead. Also, in particular, Yerevan gave Kelbajar and Lachin districts and part of Agdam district, which during the interwar period were under control of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, to Baku. In addition, Russian peacekeepers are stationed in the region.
