Pezeshkian: Iran Committed to Strengthening Ties with EAEU, BRICS, SCO

11 February

Deepening cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), BRICS, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) stands as a top priority for Iran's economic policy, President Masoud Pezeshkian said at his address to the nation marking the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, as reported by TASS.

"For the development of [the country] and our industry, we need markets," Pezeshkian stated. "In the first stage, this means specifically Islamic countries and our neighbors, followed by strengthening interaction within the EAEU, BRICS, the SCO, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and the Economic Cooperation Organization."

After joining the SCO in 2023, the Islamic Republic became a full member of BRICS on January 1, 2024. Furthermore, a comprehensive free trade agreement with the EAEU entered into force in May 2025, which reduces import duties on 90% of traded goods.
