Indonesian President Joko Widodo intends to visit Russia and Ukraine at the end of June and hold meetings with the leaders of the two countries, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said on Wednesday.

"During his visits to Kiev and Moscow, the president [of Indonesia] will meet with President [Vladimir] Zelensky and President [Vladimir] Putin," Antara News Agency quoted the foreign minister as saying.

Marsudi stressed that Joko Widodo will be the first Asian leader to visit Russia and Ukraine since the start of the Russian Armed Forces' special operation. The Indonesian president will visit Kiev and Moscow after a June 26-27 visit to Germany, where he will attend the Group of Seven (G7) summit as a guest.

On June 14, a Kremlin source told TASS that Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with his Indonesian counterpart in Moscow on June 30. The Jakarta Post earlier reported that Joko Widodo intends to discuss in Moscow the problem of Ukrainian grain exports, as well as the upcoming summit of the Group of Twenty (G20), which is chaired by Indonesia.

The Jakarta Post notes that Jakarta opposes imposing sanctions on Russia for conducting a special operation in Ukraine and that the two leaders have "good personal relations".
