Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi noted common ground shared with Moscow on combating religious extremism. This is stated in Raisi's greeting to the participants of the XVIII International Muslim Forum "Justice and Moderation: Divine Principles of the World Order," which is taking place in Moscow. The text was read Thursday by Iranian presidential adviser Abul Qasim Dolabi.

"Today's Russia is a successful model of dialogue between Abrahamic religions and Islamic madhhabs. This unrivaled opportunity has objectively materialized in the form of extensive ties between the Orthodox Church and Sunni Muftis with religious and scholarly centers in Iran," he said. - "The grace of such ties between religions leads to a common understanding between the two countries, Iran and Russia, regarding the international agenda, particularly on the issue of terrorism, which manifested itself in the unity of action of these countries in the fight against ISIS (IS is a terrorist organization banned in Russia - TASS) and religious extremism."

Dolabi also noted that "Iran's principled policy in cooperation with Russia has always been based on strengthening relations with this country."

The forum was timed to the 1,400th anniversary of the Hijra of the Prophet Muhammad and the 1,100th anniversary of the official adoption of Islam by the people of Volga Bulgaria.
