03 May

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has issued directives to ensure the high-level organization of Victory Day celebrations slated to take place in Ashgabat and across regions on May 9, commemorating the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. This directive was conveyed during a meeting of the State Security Council of Turkmenistan, as reported by the official newspaper Neytralny Turkmenistan.

Berdimuhamedov specifically tasked Secretary of the State Security Council of Turkmenistan and the country's Defense Minister Begench Gundogdiyev with overseeing the arrangements.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nurmuhammed Amannepesov disclosed in late April that veterans of the Great Patriotic War would receive monetary and valuable gifts on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in honor of Victory Day. Amannepesov underscored the nation's proud and extensive commemoration of Victory Day, emphasizing Turkmenistan's commitment to caring for its war veterans.

Notably, 300,000 Turkmenistanis participated in combat operations during the Great Patriotic War, with 130,000 individuals being honored with orders and medals. Additionally, 104 were bestowed with the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, while 15 attained the esteemed status of full cavaliers of the Order of Glory.
