Following the discussions held in Ankara between Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a total of 13 documents were signed. This significant development was reported by the official newspaper, Neytralny Turkmenistan.
The signed documents include a memorandum of understanding between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the Union of Chambers and Exchanges of Turkey, establishing a forum of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry "Turkmenistan - Turkey." Furthermore, a memorandum of understanding was inked for cooperation in human resources management, involving the Academy of Public Service under the President of Turkmenistan and the Office of Human Resources under the President of Turkey.
Moreover, the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the Higher Education Council of Turkey signed a memorandum of understanding to foster collaboration in higher education. This encompasses an array of shared efforts in the academic domain.
The State Committee of Turkmenistan on Television, Radio Broadcasting, and Cinematography, and the Communications Office under the President of Turkey will engage in media-related cooperation. Additionally, there are provisions for collaboration in research and development in transport and information technologies. This initiative will involve the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey.
Several agreements were also signed: on cooperation between the governments of Turkmenistan and Turkey in joint production of audio and video products, in the field of technical regulation, standardization, conformity assessment, accreditation and metrology, plant protection and quarantine, culture and meteorology.
In addition, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan signed a joint action plan with the Organization for the Development and Support of Small and Medium Enterprises of Turkey. The same document was signed for 2024-2026 as part of the implementation of the agreement on cooperation between the governments of the countries in the field of youth policy and sports. Finally, the General Archive Department under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and the State Archive Department under the President of Turkey signed a protocol on cooperation.
Berdimuhamedov's inaugural visit to Turkey
President Berdimuhamedov made his inaugural official visit to Turkey as the head of state, marking a significant diplomatic milestone in the bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and Turkey.
During the meeting, both leaders engaged in a symbolic exchange of gifts. President Berdimuhamedov presented his Turkish counterpart with a Turkmen Alabai puppy affectionately named Gardash, which translates to "Relative" in Turkmen. In response, President Erdogan gifted the distinguished guest with two Turkish Kangal puppies, although their specific names were not disclosed.
As part of his first official visit to Turkey, Berdimuhamedov actively participated in a Turkmen-Turkish business forum. The forum witnessed a strong display of mutual interest in pursuing collaborative projects across various economic sectors. Berdimuhamedov highlighted the potential for hosting another Turkmen-Turkish business forum, this time in conjunction with the upcoming exhibition of Turkish export goods scheduled to take place in Ashgabat from December 6 to 8, 2023.
Furthermore, the president of Turkmenistan extended a cordial invitation to Erdogan to make an official visit to Turkmenistan at his convenience. The specific dates for this reciprocal visit will be coordinated through diplomatic channels, as reported by the newspaper.
