The Russian House in Syria is currently suspended because the country’s security situation isn't yet stable enough for it to open, Yevgeny Primakov, head of Rossotrudnichestvo, told TASS.
“In Syria, it remains on hold for now. We are not an independent foundation or a non-profit organization; we are part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We rely on the opinions and directives provided by our embassies in the host countries. For the time being, our understanding is that the situation in Syria isn't stable or safe enough for the cultural center to reopen,” he explained.
Primakov added, “Here, we are, of course, following the guidance of our embassy.”
