Putin and Aliyev Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthening Russia–Azerbaijan Cooperation

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev confirmed their mutual resolve to deepen allied relations between their countries during a phone call, the Kremlin press service reported.

 

During the conversation, Putin congratulated Aliyev on his birthday. “The leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to comprehensively strengthening Russia–Azerbaijan allied relations and agreed on further personal contacts,” the readout stated.

 

Azerbaijan’s First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva joined what was described as a “warm and friendly” discussion. “First Vice President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva joined the conversation,” the statement noted. The participants exchanged the warmest wishes for the upcoming New Year holidays, and Aliyev also received a congratulatory telegram.
