30 December 2025

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a phone conversation on Monday to discuss the state of bilateral relations and exchange New Year greetings, the Kremlin press service reported.

According to the statement, both leaders voiced satisfaction with the progress achieved in strengthening the strategic partnership and allied relations between Moscow and Tashkent. They also reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation across political, economic, and humanitarian areas under agreements reached at the highest level.

“The leaders congratulated each other on the upcoming New Year 2026, sincerely wishing one another good health, happiness, and prosperity, and wishing the fraternal peoples of the two countries peace and continued progress,” the Kremlin noted.

In addition to bilateral matters, Putin and Mirziyoyev discussed current international and regional developments and reviewed the schedule of planned high-level meetings and joint events for the coming year.

During the conversation, President Mirziyoyev also expressed indignation over the recent drone attack targeting the Russian president’s residence in Russia’s Novgorod Region, condemning what he described as “reckless terrorist actions” by the Ukrainian side.
