Putin and Mirziyoyev discuss key issues of bilateral cooperation

Russian President Vladimir Putin during a telephone conversation congratulated President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his 65th birthday and discussed with him issues of cooperation between the two countries and international topics, the Kremlin press service said on Sunday. 

 

 "The two sides shared their views on key issues of bilateral cooperation. They also touched upon some international topics including those related to the meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Heads of State Council (HSC) set to be held in Uzbekistan this autumn. Both parties confirmed their mutual aspirations to comprehensively strengthen the Russian-Uzbek relations of strategic partnership and cooperation," the Kremlin said. 

 

 The Kremlin website also published the text of a telegram of Vladimir Putin, in which he congratulated the president of Uzbekistan on his 65th birthday. "Through your longstanding work while occupying top public posts you earned the utmost respect of your compatriots and significant authority on the global arena. Under your leadership Uzbekistan is successfully advancing along the path of economic and social development and plays a constructive role in international affairs," the message reads. 

 

 The head of state added that Russia values Mirziyoyev's personal contribution toward strengthening strategic partnership relations and unity between two countries as well as in building fruitful bilateral cooperation in various fields. I am counting on the continuation of our meaningful dialogue and productive mutual work," the president concluded, wishing the head of Uzbekistan good health, prosperity and success in state activities. 

 

 Earlier, Vladimir Putin signed a decree awarding the president of Uzbekistan the Order of Alexander Nevsky.
