Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will take part in the Kazakhstan-Russia Interregional Cooperation Forum via videoconference. The event is set to be held in Ufa, as confirmed by the Kazakh president's press service.
"As part of [Putin's visit to Kazakhstan], high-level talks will be held. The heads of state will participate in the 20th Kazakhstan-Russia Interregional Cooperation Forum via videoconference," the statement said.
Putin is scheduled to arrive in Astana on November 27 for a state visit at Tokayev’s invitation. The following day, Astana will host a summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), chaired by Tokayev. Delegations from member states are expected to discuss pressing regional and international security issues, with several documents set to be adopted at the conclusion of the meeting.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told TASS that in the lead-up to Putin's visit, both presidents plan to publish articles in prominent Russian and Kazakh media outlets. Peskov emphasized that Kazakhstan is a close ally and a significant partner for Russia, noting that interactions between the two leaders consistently enhance bilateral cooperation.
Putin's previous official visit to Kazakhstan took place in November 2023. He also participated in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Astana in July 2024.
