Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated African heads of state and government on Africa Day, noting Moscow's readiness to support their efforts to counter terrorism, epidemic diseases and other challenges to global security. The telegram was published on the Kremlin website on Tuesday.

"Russia values traditionally friendly relations with African partners and has consistently supported their efforts to resolve local conflicts, counter terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, epidemic diseases and other challenges to regional and global security," Putin said in the message.

Noting that Africa Day has become a symbol of the victory of the continent's peoples over colonialism, their desire for independence, peace and prosperity, the Russian head of state pointed to the significant success of countries in the economic and social fields, as well as their growing role in addressing international issues. He emphasized the expansion of constructive cooperation and the promotion of integration processes within the African Union and several sub-regional structures.

Putin expressed confidence that on the basis of the agreements reached at the 2019 Russia-Africa summit, it will be possible to ensure further enhancement of the entire range of Russian-African ties.
