Putin congratulated Tokayev on his 70th birthday by phone

Russian President Vladimir Putin warmly congratulated his Kazakhstani counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on his anniversary by telephone, and the leaders reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further strengthening relations between the two countries, the Kremlin press service said Wednesday.


"The two sides reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further strengthening Russia-Kazakhstan allied relations and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas," the statement reads.


Putin also sent a congratulatory telegram to Tokayev. The text of the message was published on the website of the Kremlin. In it, the Russian leader noted that the president of Kazakhstan enjoys the well-deserved respect of his compatriots and international authority "as an experienced, far-sighted politician who is a great deal for the socio-economic development of his country and the protection of its interests on the global stage."


"I am counting on continued constructive dialogue and close joint work to further strengthen relations of strategic partnership and alliance between Russia and Kazakhstan, as well as to promote mutually beneficial integration processes in the Eurasian space," the telegram reads.


Putin wished Tokayev "good health, happiness, prosperity and success in government work for the benefit of the fraternal people of Kazakhstan."


Contacts of the leaders


The previous time Putin and Tokayev spoke by telephone on January 3, then they congratulated each other on New Year and discussed issues of bilateral cooperation. In addition, the president of Kazakhstan thanked the Russian head of state for the warm welcome at the informal summit of the CIS in St. Petersburg on December 26-27, 2022.


On May 8-9, Tokayev arrived in Moscow on a working visit. Among others, he attended the Victory Day parade together with other CIS leaders. After the visit, the press service of the Kazakhstani leader reported that "Tokayev had a detailed conversation with Putin," during which the leaders "discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation" and "stressed the need to further develop the partnership on the basis of mutual respect and in the interests of the peoples of the two countries."
