Putin Congratulates Aliyev on Victory in Presidential Election

In a telephone conversation, Russian President Vladimir Putin extended his warmest congratulations to Ilham Aliyev on his resounding victory in the Azerbaijani presidential election. The Kremlin press service relayed Putin's message, stating that the Russian leader wished Aliyev continued success in his role as President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

 

The leaders affirmed their commitment to maintaining personal contact and further developing the Russian-Azerbaijani strategic partnership and alliance. The Kremlin's report on the conversation highlighted the shared interest in strengthening bilateral ties and the agreement to sustain personal communication.

 

In addition to the phone call, a congratulatory telegram was dispatched to Aliyev. The Central Election Commission (CEC) announced that after processing protocols from  93% of polling stations, Aliyev secured the election with  92.05% of the votes, which took place on February  7.
