Putin Congratulates Berdimuhamedov on Anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Neutrality Recognition

12 December

Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty (People’s Council) of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, on the 30th anniversary of the international recognition of the country’s status of permanent neutrality, highlighting the consistent and constructive nature of Ashgabat’s foreign policy.

“The consistent and constructive foreign policy course pursued by Ashgabat — to which you have made a significant personal contribution — is highly valued by the international community. The warm relations your country maintains with its neighbors in Central Asia and the Caspian region undoubtedly help ensure peace, security, and stability in this important part of the Eurasian continent,” reads the message published on the Kremlin’s website.

According to Putin, relations between the two countries are at an unprecedentedly high level of deep strategic partnership. The president expressed confidence that cooperation will continue to develop productively for the benefit of the friendly peoples of Russia and Turkmenistan.

“I sincerely wish you, dear Gurbanguly Myalikgulyyevich, good health, well-being and success, and I wish happiness and prosperity to all your compatriots,” Putin concluded.
