Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent birthday greetings to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty (People’s Council) of Turkmenistan. The message was published in the official newspaper Neytralny Turkmenistan.
“Over the years you have held high state office, you have earned the well-deserved respect of your compatriots and gained significant authority abroad,” Putin wrote. “It is hard to overstate your personal contribution to strengthening Russian-Turkmen relations. I am confident that our cooperation will continue to thrive in the spirit of deep strategic partnership—for the benefit of our friendly nations and in the interest of regional stability and security.”
Putin wished Berdimuhamedov good health, happiness, well-being, and continued success.
Berdimuhamedov turned 68 on June 29.
