Putin discussed with Pashinyan what is happening in Nagorno-Karabakh

Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan  at the initiative of the Armenian side.

 

"The discussion focused on the sharp escalation of hostilities in the Nagorno-Karabakh area. The Russian side expressed grave concern over the resumption of large-scale hostilities.   It was noted that it was important to make all necessary efforts now to thwart further escalation of the conflict, and most importantly – to halt military actions," the report says.

 

 

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported early on Sunday that Armenia had started intensive shelling of the positions of the Azerbaijani army. As stated by the Defense Ministry, there were dead and wounded among the civilian population.

 

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, for his part, said that the Azerbaijani armed forces had launched an offensive in the direction of Nagorno-Karabakh. According to the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the Azerbaijani army is bombing localities, including Stepanakert, the capital of the unrecognized Republic.
