Putin discusses situation in Afghanistan with Kazakh president

Russian president Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The politicians discussed the situation in Afghanistan, the Kremlin press service reported on Wednesday.


"In connection with the upcoming events in Dushanbe by the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Afghan issues were discussed in detail," the president's press service said in a statement.


The Kremlin added that during the conversation the presidents also touched upon several topical issues of the bilateral agenda, including the joint struggle against coronavirus infection. In addition, Putin and Tokayev agreed to continue contacts.
