Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his belief that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan will successfully manage the aftermath of the recent monsoon floods.
“Unfortunately, Pakistan continues to face one disaster after another. We have worked closely together and sat at the same table during the SCO session, where you spoke about these challenges. We sincerely hope that your country, under your leadership, will overcome all these difficulties and problems,” Putin said.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the entire people of Pakistan in light of the severe events, including the floods,” he added.
According to Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority, since June 26, at least 804 people have died and 1,088 have been injured due to heavy rains and resulting floods. The total number of those affected across the country has surpassed 2 million.
