Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting in Ashgabat with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
The talks were part of a series of international engagements the Russian leader is conducting on the sidelines of the Peace and Trust Forum, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s declaration of permanent neutrality.
The last in-person meeting between the Russian and Iranian presidents took place in early September in China, during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit.
Since October, Russia and Iran have been bound by a treaty on comprehensive strategic partnership, and the two countries continue to expand cooperation, including in the military-technical sphere.
Putin is also scheduled to meet with Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. His diplomatic marathon will conclude with talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
