Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan are holding a bilateral meeting in Ashgabat.
The two leaders did not make public statements in front of the press, and the talks are taking place behind closed doors.
The Russian delegation includes, among others, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, Presidential Aide for Foreign Policy Yury Ushakov, Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, and Rais of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov.
The meeting between Putin and Erdoğan is taking place on the sidelines of the Peace and Trust Forum. As Peskov previously noted, the Turkish leader stated during the forum’s session that Ankara is prepared to continue its mediation efforts and support a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
Putin and Erdoğan remain in regular contact. Their last in-person meeting took place on September 1 in Tianjin, China. Since then, the two presidents have spoken by phone twice — on October 7 and November 24.
