Putin: Russia and Kazakhstan Have No Disagreements Across Any Areas

22 December

At a bilateral meeting with Kazakh President Kassym‑Jomart Tokayev, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that relations between Russia and Kazakhstan are developing positively in all areas and that there are virtually no points of contention between the two countries.

“I’m pleased to meet with you to discuss what I see as priority issues for the development of our bilateral ties,” Putin said. “Overall, the situation is evolving positively — across practically all areas — and we do not have a single contentious or difficult issue.” He added, however, that “there are always questions that arise with such a large scope of cooperation.”

For his part, Tokayev praised the well‑organized nature of the meetings Putin held in St. Petersburg as part of the EAEU and CIS gatherings. “Both within the EAEU and the CIS formats, we were able to review a broad range of issues in our cooperation. As has been noted, the CIS remains an authoritative international organization and continues to be in high demand,” he said.

Summing up the results of 2025 in bilateral relations with Russia, Tokayev described the year as successful and said ties “continued on an upward trajectory.” “My state visit to Russia on November 12 was a complete success. I’m grateful for the warm reception,” he added. “For us, cooperation with Russia is an absolute priority. Life itself dictates the need for our mutual coexistence — nature itself shows that we should stand together on all matters affecting the daily lives of the people of Kazakhstan, and, I believe, Russia as well.”

Tokayev concluded that the two presidents’ joint efforts to strengthen the strategic partnership “fully reflect the fundamental interests of our nations.”
