Russia intends to increase cooperation with Kazakhstan and other members of the EAEU in the field of aircraft construction, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday.

"I would especially note that our neighbor and ally, the Republic of Kazakhstan, acts as Russia's partner country at the current air show. We intend to increase cooperation with our Kazakh colleagues and other members of the Eurasian Economic Union in such a high-tech industry as aircraft construction," Putin said, speaking at the opening of the International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2021.

"Our enterprises are already implementing a number of promising projects. For example, helicopters of Mi family are assembled in Kazakhstan. The joint project Baiterek is being promoted by Roscosmos. Its purpose is to create an organizational and technical structure for the launch of spacecraft from the legendary Baikonur cosmodrome using an environmentally friendly launch vehicle," the head of state added.

The president noted that Russia is open to cooperation in aviation and cosmonautics with all interested countries.

"Improving flight safety, reducing the negative impact of aviation on the environment, studying extraterrestrial space are areas where scientists, designers and other specialists from different countries should unite to achieve new breakthrough results," Putin said.
