Russia is watching with pain and concern the humanitarian disaster unfolding in Palestine, stated President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas.

"Of course, we observe with great pain and concern the humanitarian catastrophe that has developed in Palestine. We are doing everything we can to support the Palestinian people," Putin said.

The president noted that Russia has been actively working to assist the Palestinian people, having sent approximately 700 tons of various types of aid. "We are utilizing every possible opportunity to support the Palestinians and the Palestinian people," he added.

He also expressed deep concern over the civilian casualties, citing UN reports of 40,000 deaths, predominantly women and children.
