Putin Submits Russia-Iran Strategic Partnership Agreement for Ratification

26 March

Russian President Vladimir Putin has submitted the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between Russia and Iran for parliamentary ratification. Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko has been appointed as the official representative to present the document to lawmakers.

A presidential directive states:

"[To] appoint Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Andrey Rudenko, as the official representative of the President of the Russian Federation during the Federal Assembly’s review of the ratification of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Iran, signed in Moscow on January 17, 2025."

The agreement was finalized during Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s visit to Moscow earlier this year. It establishes the legal framework for long-term cooperation between the two countries, recognizing Russia and Iran as strategic partners. The agreement covers a wide range of areas, including defense, counterterrorism, energy, finance, transportation, industry, agriculture, culture, science, and technology.
