27 December 2023

Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed gratitude to Russian rescuers for their swift evacuation of citizens from the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone.

In a video message on the occasion of Emergency Rescuer's Day, Putin acknowledged the high status and authority of the Emergencies Ministry.

"Today, the Emergencies Ministry confirms its esteemed status and authority," he stated. Putin highlighted the rescuers' efficiency in addressing natural disasters, such as floods and forest fires across various regions of Russia throughout the year.

"In the shortest possible time, rescuers evacuated our citizens from perilous areas, including the conflict zone in the Middle East. The humanitarian operations delivered food, medicines, and essential supplies not only within Russia but also globally, because human grief has no nationality. I appreciate your professionalism and dedication in executing your tasks," Putin highlighted.

The evacuation from the Gaza Strip, conducted between November 13 and December 19, brought a total of 1,124 individuals to the Russian Federation. Among them were 643 Russian citizens, including 518 children, with 320 being Russian nationals. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova previously announced that the ongoing evacuation of remaining Russians in the Gaza Strip would be conducted on an individual basis.
