Qatar is closely cooperating and coordinating with Russia on the situation in Afghanistan, Qatar's ambassador to Moscow, Ahmed bin Nasser bin Jassim Al Thani, told TASS.

"We can say that Qatar is closely interacting with Russia on the issue of Afghanistan," he said. - "Qatar always looks towards its friends, specifically Russia. We coordinate so that there will always be peace and security in Afghanistan."

The Taliban (radical movement, banned in Russia) launched a large-scale operation to take control of Afghanistan after the announcement of the US decision to withdraw its military forces from there this spring. On August 15, the radicals entered Kabul without a fight, and president Ashraf Ghani resigned and left the country. On September 6, the Taliban declared that they had taken control of all of Afghanistan and on September 7, they announced the composition of the provisional government.
