Qatar is maintaining active communication with Iran and other regional partners to prevent further escalation surrounding the Islamic Republic. These efforts were detailed by Majid bin Mohammed al-Ansari, advisor to the Qatari Prime Minister and spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"Contacts have been ongoing over the past few days, involving not only Qatar but all regional stakeholders. Very intensive regional communication is underway as part of the effort to lower tensions and prevent a wider escalation," al-Ansari stated during a press briefing. He specified that these diplomatic maneuvers are primarily aimed at facilitating direct negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
Regarding media reports of a high-level meeting in Turkey, the diplomat confirmed that discussions have been held with all relevant parties—referring to the US and Iran—to bring them back to the negotiating table. "I cannot disclose specific details, but this is a collective regional effort," he added.
Addressing the increasing US military presence in the Middle East, al-Ansari emphasized that the Qatari authorities have "taken all necessary precautions" in the event of further friction. He noted that while Qatar is working with partners to ensure national security, the primary focus remains steadfastly on diplomacy.
