Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani welcomed the UN Security Council statement condemning Israel’s strike against the Hamas leadership residence in Doha.
“We welcome the Security Council’s statement that denounced Israel’s treacherous attack on the residence of the Hamas negotiating delegation in an area with schools, embassies, and residential buildings. I emphasized before the Council that this attack undermines the international order and reiterated Qatar’s commitment to its humanitarian and diplomatic mission, as well as the right to defend its sovereignty,” the Qatari leader posted on X.
On September 9, Israel launched strikes against Hamas leaders based in Doha. The Palestinian movement reported six fatalities, including the son of senior Gaza leader Khalil al-Hayya and a member of Qatari security forces. Reports of high-level Hamas casualties have not yet been confirmed.
On Thursday, the Security Council convened an emergency meeting, condemned the Israeli strike, and reaffirmed its support for Qatar’s sovereignty.
