Qatar’s Foreign Ministry: Israel’s Ban on Aid Deliveries to Gaza Violates Ceasefire Agreement

03 March

Qatar has strongly condemned Israel’s decision to halt humanitarian aid deliveries to the Gaza Strip, calling it a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement and international humanitarian law, according to a statement released by Qatar’s Foreign Ministry on March 2.

The ministry stressed that food and humanitarian supplies must never be used as tools of war, urging the international community to pressure Israel into allowing unhindered delivery of aid across Gaza.

The current ceasefire was brokered in January with Egypt, Qatar, and the US acting as mediators. It took effect on January 19, and the first phase concluded on March 1. During that period, 33 hostages were released from Gaza, while over 1,500 Palestinian prisoners were freed by Israel — some of whom were deported outside Palestinian territories.

On March 2, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that all aid deliveries into Gaza were being suspended, and all border crossings were closed. According to Israel, the decision came in response to Hamas rejecting a proposal by US envoy Steven Wietkoff to extend the ceasefire. Netanyahu warned that if Hamas continued to refuse talks, further consequences would follow.
