Rahmon and Putin discuss situation in Afghanistan

Presidents of Tajikistan and Russia Emomali Rahmon and Vladimir Putin discussed the situation in Afghanistan by telephone. This was reported on Tuesday by the press service of the head of Tajikistan.


"The presidents exchanged views in detail on the current military and political situation in Afghanistan, with special attention paid to the situation on the Tajik-Afghan border. The sides agreed on further coordination of efforts on Afghan issues and continuation of contacts at various levels," the report said.


According to the press service, "the sides discussed urgent issues of the Tajik-Russian strategic partnership, including trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and military-technical aspects of bilateral relations". Also, the heads of state "reviewed the regional and international agenda," and in this context "discussed the upcoming CSTO and SCO summits in the capital of Tajikistan".
