Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the research and practical conference “Russia–Islamic World Dialogue: Shared Cultural Heritage as a Basis for Cooperation” held in Moscow.
The event was organized by the Group of Strategic Vision (GSV) “Russia–Islamic World”, chaired by Minnikhanov, along with the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the International Islamic Mission.
The conference was dedicated to an important date for traditional Russian Islam — the 950th anniversary of Nizamiya Madrasa, the first educational institution of university type to be established on the territory of present-day Russia and Europe.
Speaking to participants, Minnikhanov emphasized that the dialogue between Russia and the Islamic world is rooted in centuries of shared history. It represents the interaction of two long-familiar civilizations that have together shaped a common cultural and historical space across Eurasia.
“Justice, mutual support, respect for elders, family values, and respect for nations and religions are among the essential principles shared by our civilizations,” Minnikhanov said.
He also highlighted the role of the GSV “Russia–Islamic World” as a key platform for strengthening cooperation and dialogue across cultural, educational and humanitarian spheres.
