Ramazan Abdulatipov: “Islam is on the side of progressive development”

22 July

Within the framework of the economic summit “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum 2024”, which was held in Kazan, as well as the IX International Conference of the Group of Strategic Vision “Russia – Islamic World”, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation and member of GSV Ramazan Abdulatipov shared his opinion on the presented events, the role and significance of the Group’s activities, as well as the level of training of modern diplomatic personnel. It should be noted that from 2018 to July 2023, Ramazan Abdulatipov served as Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

“The Group of Strategic Vision is one of the effective levers for implementing the Islamic vector of Russian foreign policy”, - the diplomat said. Abdulatipov noted the unique view of the Group through the prism of interreligious and intercivilizational interaction on many issues occurring in the Islamic world. In this regard, the GSV’s meeting in Kazan and the KazanForum 2024 attracts representatives from many different countries. The impressive number of participants (87 countries were represented at KazanForum 2024 - editor's note ) suggests that Russia is in no way isolated from the outside world.

“The most important thing is that Islam proves that it is not a religion that contradicts progress and the civilizational foundations of the development of the modern world”, - noted Ramazan Abdulatipov. As Russia's representative in the OIC, the diplomat repeatedly drew attention to the potential of the spiritual and moral values of Islam in improving the world.

“The modern world is very strictly divided along civilizational lines into traditional and non-traditional: where natural needs are satisfied, and unnatural ones, respectively. Islam today is on the side of progressive development, on the side of preserving spiritual and moral values”, -  noted Ramazan Abdulatipov .

The diplomat spoke about the major international forum “Traditional values of the peoples of the East and the modern world” held in Tajikistan, including on the initiative of the GSV. During this forum, together with RTSU (Russian-Tajik (Slavic) University), the Center for International Politics named after Evgeniy Primakov was opened in Dushanbe.

“Such active work is carried out by the Group of Strategic Vision, and, of course, first of all, by the head of the Group, Rustam Minnikhanov, who dynamically interacts with many Muslim countries. He recently participated in a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of Muslim countries, which once again speaks of the increased role of the Group and the authority of its leader”, -  noted Ramazan Abdulatipov.

The diplomat also expressed his joy at the presence of the Director General of ICESCO (Islamic Organization for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Affairs), Dr. Salim bin Mohammed al-Malik, at the economic forum in Kazan. Ramazan Abdulatipov spoke about the conversation with him and paid special attention to the need for GSV interaction with this organization, as well as intensifying the work of the federal and regional governments in this area. According to Abdulatipov, ICESCO is very interested in interaction with the Russian Federation. The diplomat also noted the participation of a large number of similar international organizations in forums in Kazan.

Discussing the quality of training of diplomatic personnel, Ramazan Abdulatipov didn’t fail to repeat the transformation of the modern world. In this regard, it is necessary to improve the system of personnel training, including diplomats, in order to meet modern requirements. Abdulatipov noted that there are a large number of speeches about various threats, various concerns, and so on.

“For example, the speech of our Muslim brothers from different countries: for 70 years we have been stubbornly and persistently repeating the same thing about Palestine. Do you understand?! Several UN Security Council resolutions have been adopted. But what have we achieved in implementing these resolutions?”, - Abdulatipov complained, noting the high degree of importance of this issue. The diplomat drew attention to the fact that the Muslim world, and all civilized people in general, are watching the Palestinian-Israeli conflict with pain, but are not taking effective actions to stop it.

“It’s good that both Russia and the Soviet Union have always been with the Palestinian people, without opposing Israel. The main thing is who is behind this?! This is the United States of America. If their destructive policy sinks into oblivion, Israel will agree on the second day to sign peace and agreement with the Palestinian people, because it will have nowhere to go”, - concluded Ramazan Abdulatipov.
