Tajikistan’s Prime Minister Kohir Rasulzoda expressed gratitude to Russia for its effective and successful chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in 2024. His remarks came during a narrow-format session of the CIS Council of Heads of Government held in Dushanbe.
As of January 1, 2025, Tajikistan has assumed the rotating chairmanship of the CIS, with Russia and Turkmenistan acting as co-chairs.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank the Russian Federation for its successful and efficient chairmanship of the CIS in 2024. Its efforts gave new momentum to cooperation among our countries,” Rasulzoda said, according to the Khovar news agency.
The Tajik prime minister emphasized that in a rapidly changing global environment, collaboration and mutual support are essential for regional stability and development. He also acknowledged all participants for their active involvement and backing of joint initiatives.
Rasulzoda noted that Tajikistan’s chairmanship in 2025 is focused on fostering practical cooperation and strengthening economic, technological, investment, and humanitarian ties among member states.
“We genuinely aim to ensure that our collective work goes beyond formalities and leads to tangible improvements and enhanced resilience in each of our national economies,” he said.
He further highlighted that trade and economic cooperation within the CIS remains a key priority of Tajikistan’s foreign policy.
